Installing Ksplice on RHEL Based Systems (CentOS/CloudLinux/Redhat Enterprise)

Last Updated: Oct 01, 2015 09:10PM EDT
#################
OBSOLETE -- check linux page for this
##################

Auto install:

wget -O /root/ksplice_basic_install.sh http://cartikasupport.com/ksplice/ksplice_basic_install.sh

 sh /root/ksplice_basic_install.sh

Manual How to install:
cd /root
wget https://www.ksplice.com/yum/uptrack/centos/ksplice-uptrack-release.noarch.rpm
rpm -i ksplice-uptrack-release.noarch.rpm
yum -y install uptrack

Now you need to add our site license key to activate KSplice and enable auto-kernel updates:

nano /etc/uptrack/uptrack.conf

At the top you will see the access auth section where the access key belongs. Edit the default, and insert our license key so it looks like this on Lines 1 & 2:

[Auth]
accesskey = 95d65e591efde9daac038c0f2e354f210bca4591ec6d7417dd4ac495a6a2ce26

To enable auto kernel updates, modify:

# Cron job will install updates automatically
autoinstall = no

to look like:

# Cron job will install updates automatically
autoinstall = yes

Save the file (CTRL+X, enter)

Then run uptrack manually to get any kernel patches not installed out of the way:

uptrack-upgrade -y

NOTES:
  • If you receive "Fatal Python error: pycurl: libcurl link-time version is older than compile-time version" you'll have to remove /hsphere/shared/lib/libcurl.so.3
