How to Log into RDP with RDS Users

Last Updated: Sep 18, 2017 09:25PM EDT
With the SolidCP access management solution, accessing RDP can be a little different then normal

Step 1 is to log into the RDS portal (will vary for USA or CAD servers - and many users and customers will have 2 portals to access)

1) Log into the appropriate RDS Portal (individual RDS users log in with their own UN and PW)
Canada -

2) once logged in,double click and download the RDS profile for the server you wish to access

3) double click on the icon that has been downloaded from your PC, Laptop, tablet, etc - and enter in your RDS UN and PW

You can save these RDS profiles to any folder, your desktop, etc

PLEASE NOTE - you are authenticating against the RDS servers.  Even with the RDP port completely closed off, you can download these RDS profiles to any device, anywhere and access Remote Desktop Services with your user and password. The connection does not rely on a specific IP being allowed, and all connections are secured via SSL

PLEASE NOTE2 - non RDS enabled servers (2008R2 or older). you can utilize your same RDS users (access configuration needs to be configured manually on each non RDS windows server (again, 2008R2 or older).  and you would connect with your normal RDP access client and would not download an RDS profile specific to that server. Normal firewall rules will apply in such scenarios
